The Third Academy is Patch 3.0's frontier story arc — three quest chains, one per new zone, open to every class regardless of whether you're chasing Mimic, Runesmith, or neither. Together they piece together what actually happened to a frontier civilization whose ruins now span all three biomes.

Chain 1 — The Archive's Edge (Echo Wastes)

Speak to Wanderer Lysara in Shaderest (Level 850+). Three quests — hunting Wandering Wraiths, Hollow Sentinels, then Void Stalkers — reveal that the Echo Wastes' wandering spirits are the Academy's own scholars, still tracing the routes of a library that burned five centuries ago. Reward title: Memory Keeper.

Chain 2 — Survivors First (Ashfall Caldera)

Speak to Warden Torva at (55, 58) in the Ashfall Caldera (Level 900+). Three quests — hunting Magma Fiends, Caldera Worms, then Cinder Phoenixes — trace the Caldera's volcanic instability back to broken inscription-work sealing something beneath the rock, far older than the current mining camp. Reward title: Caldera Walker.

Chain 3 — What Was Left Behind (Blighted Expanse)

Speak to Historian Petra at (33, 72) in the Blighted Expanse (Level 1,100+). Three quests — hunting Void Crawlers, Blight Reapers, then the rare The Unraveled — culminate in the arc's central reveal. Reward title: Historian of the Deep.

The Reveal

The Third Academy maintained the Echo Wastes as a memory archive, harnessed the Caldera as an energy source, and built a memory-inscription machine meant to make the Academy's knowledge — and its people — permanent. The machine didn't misfire. It worked exactly as designed, and it never stopped running. The Unraveled carries the memory signature of Asha Vorn, the Academy's Director and the machine's architect — and every echo across all three zones is the machine's ongoing output, five centuries later.
