Levelling & Experience
Every enemy, quest and objective in Crystaria pays experience, and every level costs more than the one before it. This page is how that arithmetic actually works — what speeds it up, what slows it down, and why the answer stays the same whether you are level 40 or level 14,000.
The Cost of a Level
The experience needed for your next level rises steadily as you climb, so the early levels fall in minutes and the later ones are a campaign. There is no level cap in the sense of a wall you hit — the realm keeps growing.
Past level 10,000 the cost of a level doubles with each new band, so the deepest reaches of the ladder are meant to feel like summits rather than formalities:
| Your level | Cost of a level |
|---|---|
| Below 10,000 | Standard |
| 10,000 – 19,999 | ×2 |
| 20,000 – 29,999 | ×4 |
| 30,000 and beyond | ×8 |
What an Enemy Pays
Experience from a kill is measured against the levelling curve itself, which means the number of kills per level stays steady from your first level to your last. A monster is worth a consistent slice of your progress wherever you meet it, and no future expansion can outpace that.
Bosses pay a premium over ordinary monsters, and raid bosses more still. In dungeons, harder difficulties also pay more — a deliberate, modest bonus rather than something that falls out of the monster's level:
| Difficulty | EXP |
|---|---|
| Normal | Baseline |
| Hard | ×1.15 |
| Very Hard | ×1.3 |
| Ultimate | ×1.5 |
Fighting Above Your Level
Taking on something bigger than you pays more — but not without limit. For the purpose of working out your reward, an enemy counts as being at most 1.25× your own level, however far above you it truly is.
This is why hunting the largest thing you can barely survive is no longer the only sensible way to play. Fight up for the challenge and the loot; you are not leaving meaningful progress behind by fighting at your own level.
Levelling Momentum
Momentum multiplies every source of experience you earn — field kills, dungeons, raids, quests, objectives, the World Boss — and shows as a green ⚡ chip on your stat panel.
It exists to help anyone behind the frontier close the gap, so it runs at full strength through the whole journey up to level 1,000, then eases off as you approach the front of the ladder, where there is no longer anyone ahead to catch:
| Your level | Momentum |
|---|---|
| 1 – 99 | ×2 |
| 100 – 199 | ×3 |
| 200 – 299 | ×4 |
| 300 – 999 | ×5 |
| 1,000 → 5,000 | ×5 easing down to ×1 |
| 5,000 and beyond | ×1 |
Everything Else That Stacks
On top of Momentum, all of these apply in full and are visible on your stat panel: the Trailblazer's Echo (double experience while playing a class below your own best), the weekly Realm Offering blessing, dungeon modifiers, your guild's experience bonus, Wisdom Essences and the experience trait, and the party bonus when you fight alongside others.
