Hunt Chains
Hunt the same kind of monster and your luck grows. Every overworld kill of the species you killed last adds a link to your Hunt Chain. A different species ends the chain and starts a new one — so walking past the other foes on a tile is a choice: slower experience, better finds.
How a chain works
- The species is the monster’s own name. A Blight-touched foe still counts as its own kind.
- A chain lapses 15 minutes after its last counted kill.
- Neutral kills neither add a link nor break the chain: rare monsters, your nemeses, and foes so far below your level that the fight marks them trivial. A rare or a nemesis still enjoys the luck of the chain you are holding.
- Only the overworld counts. Dungeons have Delver’s Edge.
- The tile shows the chain you hold above its foes, and marks every foe that would continue it.
What a chain gives
Hunter’s Luck raises every find of the kill by a share of its own chance: the item drop (still capped at 80%), dungeon keys, treasure maps and essences. From Tier III the item’s rarity is rolled more than once and the best is kept. Reaching a tier guarantees that kill’s item drop. A chain never changes experience or gold.
| Tier | Chain | Hunter’s Luck | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier I | 5 kills | +10% | single roll |
| Tier II | 10 kills | +20% | single roll |
| Tier III | 20 kills | +30% | best of 2 |
| Tier IV | 35 kills | +40% | best of 2 |
| Tier V | 50 kills | +55% | best of 2 |
| Tier VI | 75 kills | +70% | best of 3 |
| Tier VII | 100 kills | +90% | best of 3 |
