History — The Realm Boss

One foe for the whole realm. A Realm Boss is not a place you travel to: its shadow lies on a kind of terrain, everywhere in the overworld at once. Every ordinary kill you make on that terrain is a blow against it, whenever you happen to play. Every blow counts the same, whoever lands it.
How it works
- One boss stands at a time, for 48 hours. The next rises about 24 hours after the last one ended.
- Its health is sized to the realm: 40 blows for every account that played in the last week.
- A kill on its terrain is one blow; a rare monster killed there is 3. Foes so far below your level that the fight marks them trivial do not count. The tile tells you when you are standing in its shadow.
- From level 5 you may also strike from the Realm Boss panel, 3 times a day, for 25 blows each — the same for everyone.
- When it is slain, or withdraws when its time runs out, everyone with at least 10 blows claims a share once: experience and gold sized to your own level, multiplied by the highest tier the realm reached. The experience is capped at 2 levels.
- Whoever struck hardest when it falls earns the title Bane of that boss.
The boss changes nothing about what a kill pays. The share is the only reward.
