At the deep end of the game you swear a Covenant — an oath that reshapes how you fight and how the corruption treats you. Open it from Endgame ▾ The Covenant. Your first oath is free; changing sides later demands the costly Renounce ritual.
The Two Oaths
| Covenant | Creed | Power scales as… |
|---|---|---|
| The Wardens | Purge the blight. Their ward and mending feed on clean ground. | corruption falls — +Defence & +Spirit, greatest at 0% corruption |
| The Deepsworn | Embrace the blight and spend it as fuel. | corruption climbs — +damage & +lifesteal, greatest near 100% corruption; and the deep suffers them far longer before it Claims them |
The bonuses fold into your live stats automatically — a Warden at rank 5 on clean ground gains up to +30% Defence and +20% Spirit; a Deepsworn at rank 5 in the deep gains up to +50% damage. Because they read your current corruption, your power shifts with every step you take toward or away from the deep.
Rank
Each covenant has five ranks, climbed by earning covenant reputation — chiefly through the Descent and by cleansing Purification Nodes (the Wardens earn far more from cleansing). Higher ranks strengthen your passive and unlock deeper Strata of the Descent.
| Rank | Reputation |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0 |
| 2 | 1,500 |
| 3 | 5,000 |
| 4 | 12,000 |
| 5 | 25,000 |
The Renounce Ritual
Changing sides is deliberate and costly. It demands 250,000 gold and 100 Dark Crystal shards, resets your accrued rank to nothing, and cannot be repeated for 7 days. Choose your first oath with that weight in mind.
