Eye-Level in the Maze
❖ Patch 4.0.3 — The Descent

The Shifting Labyrinth drops the god’s-eye view and puts you inside the corridor. Stone walls recede into the dark, doors and stairwells loom out of the murk, and every floor is lit in the colour of its Sign. The map moves to the map panel, the controls move to the compass — and the loot that was quietly the weakest thing in the game gets set right.

First-person corridor view

The maze is now drawn at eye level: walls, floor and ceiling receding to a vanishing point, coursed in running-bond brick with a tiled floor grid underfoot. The whole scene takes its colour from the floor’s Sign — Fire glows amber, Water steel-blue, Dark violet — so you always know what you’re walking through. It reads the exact same maze the game always tracked; only the camera changed.

Doors, stairs, chests and shrines are drawn in the world

What’s ahead now appears ahead of you: a barred brick door when the way is locked, a detailed stairwell descending into the dark for the way down, a banded treasure chest, or a shrine’s floating rune. Side passages open as dark recesses to your left and right. A blocking enemy stands in the corridor wearing its real monster sprite — the same art you meet on the fight card.

Turn & step — and the map moves to the map panel

Movement is now a proper crawler: turn left / right to rotate, forward / back to step, from the compass in the move panel — or with the arrow-keys and your WASD keybinds. The top-down maze becomes a live map that replaces the overworld map panel (the way dungeons and raids do), floor-labelled with your heading marked, updating as you go.

A battle transition, and a log that reads top-down

Stepping into a foe now plays a battle transition — a flash in the enemy’s colour as the fight card snaps into view. And the combat log now reads newest-first: the latest exchange sits at the top so you never scroll to see what just happened.

Set Right
Casting a spell no longer freezes Labyrinth combat Fixed

Casting inside the maze could lock the combat panel while a plain attack worked fine. The round’s log was being dropped into the display unescaped — a spell or reaction line carrying the wrong character broke the panel. It’s now sanitised exactly the way dungeon combat always was. Cast away.

Keyboard movement works in the Labyrinth Fixed

Arrow-keys and WASD did nothing in the maze — you had to click. They now drive the first-person turn/step controls like everywhere else.

Ultimate Relics — Made Worth It
Ultimate-difficulty relic drops are now best-in-slot Rebalanced

The relic armour that drops from a dungeon’s Ultimate tier — the hardest content in the game — had quietly been rolling stats 7–10× weaker than the set you earn from a normal clear. That’s backwards. Every relic armour piece across all 81 dungeons has been re-forged to sit above the base dungeon set and saturate the live combat cap on two stats plus defence and armour — genuinely best-in-slot, and with its own set bonus and a freed-up slot on top. Nothing else was nerfed.
