The Mimic is a living archive. Every enemy slain has a base 15% chance to leave behind an echo — a fragment of that creature's ability absorbed directly into the Mimic's Echo Codex. Codex entries stack; manage them from Character → Codex and slot up to 10 active echoes to bring into combat.
Speak to Scholar Erevan in Shaderest (Echo Wastes, requires Level 850). Complete four escalating quests — hunting Echo Shades, Phantom Beasts, Echo Drakes and The Hollow — to earn the Mimic class and the title Echo Master.
A new weapon type: the Echo Shard (INT/DEX primary, size 1). 30 named variants across two series — Dark and Lightning — spanning Level 1 to 1,000. The Echo Shard scales off INT, keeping Mimic's mixed physical/magical identity lean.
The Runesmith wields six persistent rune slots — 3 Weapon, 3 Armor/Field — each holding one of 24 named runes. Each hit builds Detonate charge; at 100 (or 80 with the Apex Field rune) the Runesmith can fire a burst that scales with inscribed weapon runes, class traits and any catalyst bonuses applied.
Speak to Archivist Vael in Hollowed Reach (Blighted Expanse, requires Level 1,050). Four mastery quests — hunting Runed Phantoms, Blighted Soldiers, Oblivion Knights and Void Heralds — culminate in the title Runewright and full class unlock.
The Runesmith's signature weapon: Rune Hammer (STR primary with INT secondary, size 2). 30 named variants across two series — Earth and Fire — with a full extended tier table reaching Level 1,400 (the highest in the game), matching the Blighted Expanse level ceiling.
A silent expanse where reality echoes. Seven enemy types including the ultra-rare The Hollow (Void Echo absorption). Echo absorption rates are doubled here — prime ground for a Mimic to fill their Codex. Home to the town Shaderest and Scholar Erevan's unlock chain. Gather Phantom Ash for Armor Catalysts.
Volcanic badlands scarred by ancient eruptions. Eight enemy types including Cinder Phoenix and Pyroclast. Gather Volcanic Cinder for Weapon Catalysts. Home to the town Cinderhold Camp and the dungeon Caldera Ascent (L950–1,100, key: Ignition Crystal, boss weapon: Ashforged Blade / Cinderbrand Greataxe).
A void-corrupted wasteland at the edge of the known world. Eight enemy types including Void Herald, The Unraveled (Entropy absorption) and Null Archon. Gather Void Crystal for Field Catalysts. Home to Hollowed Reach and Archivist Vael's Runesmith chain. The dungeon Descent into the Expanse (L1,200–1,500, key: Fractured Seal, reward: ×1.4, boss weapon: Void Schism / Expanse Null Staff) is the hardest overworld dungeon yet added.
You don't need Mimic or Runesmith to have something to do out here. Three quest-givers, one per new zone, each run a three-quest chain open to any class — and together they piece together what actually happened to the Third Academy, the frontier civilization whose ruins now span all three biomes.
Each chain ends in a twist. Petra's finale reveals the Academy's memory-inscription machine wasn't a weapon that misfired — it was built to make the Academy immortal, and it's still running.
Runecrafting produces Catalysts — one-use consumables that boost a Runesmith's rune inscription by +15% (Basic), +30% (Refined) or +50% (Perfected). Three catalyst lines, each tied to a new zone gather:
Nine recipes total. Refined and Perfected tiers require rare dungeon materials (Dungeon Core, Ancient Shard, Void Relic). Skill level gates at 0 / 35 / 75. Any class can gather resources and sell catalysts; Runesmtihs are the only ones who can consume them.
Each new zone adds five gather-tier resources (Common through Legendary), with dedicated gather points seeded across the zone. Echo Wastes: Pale Stone, Echo Dust, Phantom Ash, Resonance Crystal, Echo Shard Fragment. Ashfall Caldera: Volcanic Rock, Cinder Ore, Volcanic Cinder, Magma Crystal, Primordial Ember. Blighted Expanse: Blighted Stone, Void Dust, Void Crystal, Corruption Ore, Ancient Void Shard.
The frontier isn't just for the two new classes — every existing system got a reason to head out there.
